The Shepherd is Back! Making the Most Out of Easter!

We have used the Shepherd’s Treasure for many years at Christmas time. I was thankful that about a year into its existence the company also created an Easter addition. The Easter addition adds a lamb and a donkey to the fun as the Shepherd tries to find his lost sheep in the days leading up to Easter. With his trusty friend, Donkey, by his side, the Shepherd walks through the days leading up to Christ’s crucifixion.

Twelve days before Easter the Shepherd appears to tell the story of finding his lost sheep. The family goes on a quest to find the sheep with each day focusing on an event leading up to Easter. You may find your Shepherd riding on the donkey with palm branches, washing feet, eating the last supper, surrounded by 30 silver coins, and more. I usually start the event with an Easter treat and reading the “Lost Sheep” story.

The last few years I have also included some Resurrection Eggs to have some extra focus on the event. On Easter Sunday the kids wake up to the Shepherd finding his lost sheep along with a small goody or two for them. I will say my kids enjoy the Christmas version more because it includes more hands-on crafts for them to do, but this definitely helps them focus on the meaning of Easter.

You can purchase the Shepherd at www.shepherdstreasure.com. Each quest comes with cards for each day and a shopping list at the beginning, so you know you have all the materials you need until Easter. The best deal is to the purchase the Christmas/Easter combo and be ready for both events next year!
