I am a huge fan of picture books for all ages. Picture books can have impact on people in all phases of life. I am somewhat embarrassed to admit that I have shed more tears reading certain picture books than many adult novels.
“The Creator in You” by Jordan Raynor is no different on its impact. The story begins describing the six days of creation and how God had intricately created the world and us. While most people end the story of creation with the seventh day of rest, Raynor focuses on the fact that really creation was just beginning at that point.
God had created us in His image and with His creativity. God created so much during those six days, but He didn’t create everything. That is where we come into play. God then calls us to create! Raynor then describes a variety of ways that humans can create amazing things to ultimately bring honor and glory to Him.
My favorite part of the book comes from the last page:
And when you show others the Creator in you,
you bring joy to the world–and to your Father too.
Jordan Raynor
God has given each of talents, abilities, and skills that He wants us to use. And when we create then we ultimately show others the image of the Creator! This book helps show kids (and grown people too) that we all have something to offer the world and to bring glory to God.
