The Shepherd Visits Again!

Joshua the Shepherd shows up each year on December 1

We had our first child in 2011. Luckily with her birthday being rather late in the year, we didn’t have to make a lot of quick decisions regarding holiday traditions for that first Christmas. My first piece of advice for couples would be to start discussing things like Santa, celebrations, holidays, etc., before you have children. As she got a little older, the Elf on the Shelf became all the rage. Elves were trashing rooms, playing jokes, and causing chaos. While I loved the thought of Elf on the Shelf, I didn’t necessarily enjoy the thought of it making messes and playing jokes. That is when I stumbled upon “The Shepherd’s Treasure.”

One of our core family beliefs is that we will be intentional in all that we do. “The Shepherd’s Treasure” allowed us to be intentional with the Christmas season as every day provides a Christian lesson. Many of the days allow for the children to do random acts of kindness, crafts, and more. Every year our Shepherd arrives on December 1. The company has tried to make it as stress-free as possible by providing cards for each day of December 1-25th. The company also provides a shopping list for each set of cards so that you can purchase all of your needed items for the season up front.

On this day our kids made Christmas cookies!

Another amazing thing about this product is you can arrange the cards in any order (on most instances) so that certain activities fall on better days for your family. For instance, if the activity involved cooking Christmas goodies, then I could save that for a weekend when we had more time to invest. There are now four years worth of cards so that you can easily rotate those and be set for almost a complete childhood.

I would highly suggest looking into the Shepherd’s Treasure to make the most of our your Christmas season. It can be purchased at www.theshepherdstreasure.com.
