Mastering Motherhood-Day 2

One of the biggest obstacles that most mom’s face is worry.  We worry about the present; are we raising our kids correctly?  We worry about the future; will my kids turn out alright?  We worry about their physical health, emotional status, and worldly success.  With so much worry we can many times get bogged down in the world and miss the gift that God has given us to help us, His Word.  How many of us check Facebook, Twitter, or Pinterest more often than the Bible when it comes to ideas for how to raise our children?  We cannot depend on the guidance of this world to produce children who honor and love God.

Put the Word Above Your Worries-The Story of Hannah (1 Samule 1), Moses’ Mother (Exodus 2:1-10), and Mary (Luke 2:25-35)

Many women throughout Scripture had to put their trust and faith in God above their own worry as a mother.  As seen yesterday, Hannah had prayed for a son for a lengthy time before God blessed her with a child.  As a result, she promised to give Samuel back to the Lord.  What faith that took!  All she desperately wanted was a son and now she would leave him at the temple to be dedicated to the Lord.  Moses’ mother placed her trust in the Lord as she sat her baby boy in a basket in the river for his ultimate safety.  God blessed her faithfulness and it resulted in her raising her son as an infant before he was taken to Pharoah’s palace.  Mary knew that God had blessed her with the Christ child and this would lead to a different life for her son.  She had to accept God’s plan for Jesus’ life and allow her son to experience ridicule, pain, and eventually death.

  • Have you dedicated your child/children to the Lord?
  • Do you want their faith to be the most important aspect of their lives?
  • How often do you get into the Word to find guidance in regard to raising your children and leading them properly?
  • Do you trust God with the lives of your children?
